Growing up just North of Dallas, Texas, Brian dreamed of being an architect. He also started enjoying and learning about wines at an early age with his parents. While in college wine became more important and he decided to change directions and focus on wine exclusively.
Experiencing the retail, restaurant and wholesale aspects of selling and presenting wines, Brian decided to take the next step and focus on learning how to make wine. Realizing that the wines of France and Italy were some of his favorite wines, he sold everything that did not fit into two suitcases, drove his truck to the bank and purchased a one way ticket to France, ending up in Bordeaux. Formally educated about eonology and wine-making at the University of Bordeaux,
Brian also worked and was mentored
at Chateau Roquefort, among others. He
went on to further his studies
at the Wine and Spirits Educational
Trust in London, after which
time he worked for a boutique
winery in Burgundy named Domaine
Serrigny - Jean-Pierre & Fils
in Savigny-Les-Beaune. These
experiences gave him the
foundation for creating balanced,
terroir-driven wines. Now the winemaker for his own label, Ramian, as well as four other projects, he focuses on balance and terroir rather than overblown presentations. The wines are meant to be original, complex, balanced and age-worthy. |
